Inside “A Willow Grows Aslant”

I recently wrote a post as a guest blogger for La Jolla Playhouse’s Behind the Red Curtain about the genesis of A WILLOW GROWS ASLANT. The series The Artist’s Journey allows the Without Walls creators to talk about these site-specific pieces (and de facto pay homage to the places that inspire them.) For me, Galbraith Hall, where I spend most of my life as an MFA student at UCSD, offers boundless inspiration despite its sanitarium-like white walls and flickering fluorescents. Those seemingly sterile halls belie the intense creative energy and aesthetic visions that are exploring, striving, failing, triumphing–in a word, rehearsing.
